Preparation

Required cleaning products & equipment

Customers normally provide the cleaning products and equipment for regular, fortnightly and one-off cleaning. Here's what to have ready before your cleaner arrives.

Who provides what

Clients normally provide the cleaning products and equipment required for regular, fortnightly and one-off cleaning. Hiremaid may provide products or equipment where this has been specifically agreed in advance, for an additional agreed charge — supplies are not automatically included.

Equipment to have available

Vacuum cleaner

A safe, fully functioning vacuum cleaner suited to your floors. A Henry-type vacuum is our preferred example, but any suitable, safe equivalent is perfectly acceptable.

Long-handled mop and bucket

Vileda SuperMocio-style mop and bucket equipment is a preferred example rather than a required brand. A comparable, functioning equivalent works just as well.

Microfibre cloths and sponges

Enough clean cloths and sponges for kitchen, bathroom and general surfaces, so different areas aren't cleaned with the same cloth.

Henry-type vacuums and Vileda SuperMocio-style equipment are preferred examples, not compulsory brands. Suitable, safe and fully functioning equivalents are always acceptable.

Cleaning products to have available

  • Bathroom cleaner
  • Kitchen cleaner
  • Disinfectant
  • Glass cleaner
  • Suitable floor cleaner for your flooring
  • Specialist products for any surfaces that need them (stone, wood, induction, granite and similar)

If some products or consumables are missing, we'll assess what's available and decide whether the clean can reasonably and safely proceed. If it does go ahead, missing or inadequate products may affect the result that can be achieved.

Preparing for your visit

Safe property access

Agree access arrangements in advance if you won't be home — keys, codes or someone to let the cleaner in.

Functioning, safe equipment

Equipment should be in working order. Cleaners shouldn't be expected to use unsafe or faulty equipment, and some tasks may not be able to proceed.

Pets

Let us know about pets in the property and where they'll be during the visit.

Allergies and product restrictions

Tell us before the visit if anyone in the household has allergies, or if certain products must not be used.

Specialist surfaces

Delicate or specialist surfaces should be flagged in advance, along with the product you'd like used on them.
